WiFi Connection Dropping?

[link to this post]

Apologies if this is in the wrong place - first time posting - please feel free to move as you see necessary.

My WiFi speeds are abysmal. I have fibre BB - should be getting speeds up to around 36mbps. I'm actually getting something like 1-2. My upload is faster than my download. The router is approximately 2m away from my desktop PC which is where I need the broadband to work the most.

I have gone online to my ISP and ran a line test which says there is no problem.

However, the router log says this...

I did a little Google and it suggest the connection is dropping. If that's the case why isn't this showing up on the line test?

If I use a line speed checker (Ookla) you can see the line speed dropping as the test goes on. However, upload is a steady flat even line.

I have had the same problem for years with this line. Sometimes it works - sometimes it is dreadful. However the ISP can NEVER seem to find a problem. I had an engineer out approx a year ago - his tests could find nothing. But clearly there is a problem somewhere.

All help gratefully received. So so fed up...

So what are the results like if you test using a wired connection ?

Also, does your router provide line statistics, like sync rate, attenuation, etc ?

There is nothing in your log that suggests any form of connection dropping.

Not sure why Sky routers renew their lease as often as the do, but that does appear to be normal.

Every time the lease is renewed the VCOP (OFCOM Voluntary Code of Practice) agent also restarts. That also appears to be perfectly normal.

Googling 'VCOP agent started' does show a few threads where people have managed to resolve problems with iffy device connectivity, but that has nothing to do with the VCOP agent itself.

Which Sky router are you using?

Desktop PC and a distance of 2 metres, best advice is if at all possible stop using Wi-Fi and connect it using an Ethernet cable

What Sky router are you using? It may be you are using 802.11n on 2.4 GHz which is prone to problems more so than 802.11ac and the better 5 GHz band
