Dropwire loop?

[link to this post]

Why do Openreach require a single turn loop in the dropwire beneath the bracket?

I can understand a drip loop below where it enters the property. The only thing that I can think of for the loop, is for some slack if a joint has to be made.

Cheers!

You got it .... it used to be called a ‘loop for the future’ back in the day.

It is somewhat tricky to strip back and expose the pair unless there’s a bit of room for manoeuvre.

There used to be two pairs in dropwire 10 so you could fit a joint at the eaves, and run a 2nd line in from there.

You see it done less and less these days, maybe they don’t teach it that way now ??

Thanks Zarjaz.

I've seen a few loops and the OR engineer made a loop when he fitted our new dropwire last year. (Just looked back in my diary and it was 30th September - time has flown by since.
He seemed to think it was a drip loop and was a disciplinary issue if he didn't leave the loop during the installation of a drop wire; but I wasn't convinced about it being a drip loop, especially in that location.

Noticing a couple of days ago that the loop was exerting some force on the cable clips - one had come out, got me thinking as to its purpose. A stainless steel cable tie will do the trick.

Cheers!

The drip loop will be on a cable run before it enters the property.

Indeed, and yes we do have one of those, hence my puzzlement re the "one" at the top!

Cheers!
