Line speed

[link to this post]

Hi,

Got these stats from my BT home hub and thinking of moving ISP as been erratic and on a 80MB package but only getting 45.

Will it improve or stats not capable of faster speeds?

Thanks

Noise margin:5.3 dB / 3.1 dB
Line attenuation:33.2 dB / 45 dB
Signal attenuation:33.2 dB / 45 dB
VLAN id:101
Modulation:G_993_2_ANNEX_B
Latency type:Fast Path

If those attenuation figures are correct you are doing very well to get 45Mbps, I don't think there's much chance that you can improve the speed, the line is already at ~3dB noise margin, DLM will not go lower than that.

My parents got much similiar to your Line attenuation with SNR at 3dB (downstream) the max on her line is 45Meg as their product are 40/10 with plusnet. So, Realalemadrid are correct here.

UnchainedISP G.fast 160/30

It's worth pointing out that moving ISP will do nothing for your speeds unless you go with a different network provider (ie Virgin or move to an FTTP altnet etc). You'll get the same through any Openreach based ISP - it's just what your line is capable of.
