Been here for 11 months and was with sky broadband originally.
When I moved in speed was connected at 76/20 then around Oct time I had some line drop outs and speed went down to 60/20 and never recovered.
On Saturday morning I had a load of disconnections again which I suspect is when I was moved to NOW broadband though the official date for connection was on Monday.
Disconnections finally stopped on Monday evening but router is now connecting 57/10.
Doesn't appear to be any noise on the line so appears not to be faulty in that respect, do I just have to put up with this until it drops below the minimum speed guarantee? which is 52.1 Mbps.
Phoning up is pretty pointless as they just ask me to change wireless settings but obviously I'm looking at the line stats on the router and not worried about speed of wireless as all computers are connected via Ethernet.

If the change of supplier was just via software, then no loss of sync expected.
If your physical port was changed in the cab, then maybe one, say, 15 minute loss of full sync and dial tone.
The gradual reduction is most likely crosstalk increasing as more users go live on the same cables your line runs through.

Ok thanks, the first time it happened in Oct I thought it might be crosstalk but to now loose half my upload speed as well as 18mbps download speed is very annoying.
Plus i never experienced this problem in my last house where I had FTTC since it came out, cabinet was full to for years and no lose of speed.
If anything I thought the cabinet would be getting less congested as more people move to FTTP.
I wonder if I can get out of this contract and order FTTP with another provider.

It is virtually impossible to predict how and where crosstalk will strike.

Very true that, even worse if the line has been cut and joined or water ingress, which I would have suspected to be honest, its been wet recently. (at least in my area its been extremely wet) (enough to cause people down the road on one of the cabs to have intermittent and full loss of service).
I won't miss copper, that's for sure.

My connection dropped yesterday and I'm now connecting below the minimum speed guarantee. So at least they should either fix it or I can leave.
Connecting at 54/20 but upload still around 10 on speed tests.

A broadband engineer just turned up. Did a speed test on the test socket of the master socket 5c MK4 and said he got a connection speed of 76. When he plugged in the filter socket and reconnected my router It connected at 56/20.
He also told me just to get FTTP.
Could this be a faulty filter socket?

For your sake, please please please get FTTP, its honestly the best thing for consumer networks, once its in you can rip out the copper and scrap it. But FTTP will remove all the faults and you'll get a bang on service with reliability levels far higher than anything copper can dream of
External faults aside.
That and faults to do with physical infrastructure.

Could be a faulty filter or downstream wiring.
If he is suggesting FTTP then why not migrate to an appropriate package? If you are still in contract most providers will let you move to their FTTP offering with no early cancellation charges.

Actually just moved to now broadband on a 12 month contract on Monday after 11 years with sky. Had problems ordering FTTP with sky as I have 2 address's listed with the exchange and only one was provisioned on there website and even though I told sky this they wouldn't listen or do anything about it.
As this connection is now below the minimum speed guarantee I guess I'll try signing up with talk talk for FTTP.

Do you need anything beyond the test socket? If it is a faceplate/wiring that is not actually needed you could just leave the router plugged into the test socket and avoid whatever is causing the issue.
But, as others have said, my vote is go for FTTP - much better technology and does away with the pitfalls of a copper connection.

Wow, I'd have persisted and try to get an FTTP order through with whatever ISP could provide it, but whatever suits your needs I guess.

Yes I just need to get a filter that will fit in the test socket to check it. But yea I guess FTTP is the way to go.

Yes i tried signing up with talk talk a couple of months back over the phone but the order didn't go through for whatever reason, and I took it as a sign to go cheaper instead of pay more. Lol
But now that the connection has dropped another 10meg in a matter of days I think it's time to bite the bullet.
