VOIP call cancelled but Callee phone showed connected

[link to this post]

Hi hope someone can help.

I have searched the internet but can't seem to get an answer to my questions.

We have VOIP phones at work. I would like some clarification on how cancelled calls are handled. It seemed a call the other day stayed live on the Callee phone after the Caller hung up.

The below call was made from 1 team member to another. So VOIP to VOIP on our phone system. Both of these phones are connect via Wi-Fi at home offices.

A called B

B answered as A hung up

B's phone showed as connected to A and on the call for 3.15 mins. B's shows not answered.

The call log in the back office report shows that call as "not answered" and there is no recording.

My Questions are

Could this call have been connected?

If A picks up the phone again would the call be connected still?

Alternately if A calls B back would it connect without ringing?

Sorry if these questions seem daft but I am new to VoIP and on a steep learning curve!!

Hope that all make sense.

Many thanks for taking the time.

Presumably all connected via a soft PBX of some description? Could be a myriad of vendors either proprietary like Cisco CM or an open/SIP/asterisk based system.

Then there’s the remote access curveball which introduces yet more variables with VoIP. So honestly really quite impossible to give intelligent answers - other than “yes but it depends”!!

You’d have to have access to the SIP server call logs, session logs, phone/endpoint and see precisely what’s going on if this was a recurring issue.

Answers are that any of your scenarios could be correct.

It depends on the VOIP PBX and the WiFi conditions.

You would have to duplicate the call situation and try each case to see what works...

Many thanks for your reply's.

One thing I didn't add is that the phone log on A's phone shows 0 mins 0sec.

Not sure if that makes any difference.

This is certainly a quirk of the call manager that you're using - not a 'feature' of VoIP per se.

As others have asked, what is the call manager / PABX?

wink Comms is hard wink

Its called Link by circle cloud. If am understanding you correctly.

Not sure what the SIP log is. I have report for each call that I can export, sample below. It does however have IP addressed in it so not sure if that would be safe to post online? If it is what you are referring to I can post it without any IP addresses??

Again sorry for the ignorance but as my status states I am a Newbie!!

get variable AGENTPOOL-DIAL 200 result=0
get variable NO_TRANSFER 200 result=0
exec Set TIMEOUT(absolute)=14400 200 result=0
Setting AbsoluteTimeout to 14400 seconds ... 200 result=1
get variable SIP_HEADER_KEY 200 result=0
get variable MONITOR_GOSUB 200 result=1 ()
