Unable to login to Hitron Router

[link to this post]

Anyone come across an issue with a Virgin Media Hitron router that stops serving up the VM branded interface and instead serves up the one in the link below?

username & password that worked under VM skin doesn't work.

Never seen anything like it before.

Has it been factory reset? Try user=cusadmin pwd=password

And if that works, don't forget to change the default password before you go any further.

@Daveytee,

Are you trying to access the router from a laptop? This could be a cache issue as you could be accessing the same IP address (192.168.0.1) from a different location and it's THAT router that is being displayed. This would be pulled from the cache. I would recommend clearing all your caches (browser and using ipconfig /flushdns (if using Windows laptop)) and trying to connect to the router. I've had this issue in the past when I connected to networks that have used the same IP address for the router.

Or it may not.

and by doing that you are potentially wiping out any unsaved passwords. Doing a dns cache flush, is sometimes helpful but not at a lan level.

You could have said, create a new browser profile, have you tried another browser or pc.

But none of these are needed atm, dfscale's suggestion is the thing he needs to do and then detour to virgin media's website.

Not sure if you’re still experiencing this issue, or indeed reading this thread but it occurred to me that this may be caused if the modem is disconnected from the cable network. It may run a different login image if it’s re-powered / rebooted whilst disconnected from the network. Just a thought.

I've seen this before with VM routers -if they're not connected to the internet they can't (although I'm sure they've changed it now) get the css they need to display the interface the way they should.

Always seemed a bit short-sighted that a device that connects you to the internet HAS to have internet connectivity to display the interface you log in to to see if you're connected to the internet.

I guess somebody realised and stored it locally and, presumably, set it to download any updates and store locally when connected to the interned.

In this case though, it seemed as through the internet was working - at least the PCs were able to access the internet though the router itself did stop responding as a DNS server so maybe it was unable to get what it needed.
