SKY Ultimate Broadband

I will start by saying I am a enthusiastic gamer,so the faster my up load speed the better my mood will be.
I was wanting to go with Fibre optic although as this is not yet possible in my location I made do with SKY Ultimate Broadband.
I am paying for 20MG although I was told I would only get 10MG with a 1MG up load.

My stats : ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 9172 kbps / 798 kbps
Line Attenuation 42.0 db / 24.3 db
Noise Margin 6.9 db / 16.3 db

Things were fine at the start,although I always wanted more up load speed.
My speed results showed they were consistent until last week their as been a drop of 4-6 MG and I can not understand why?.

As you can see there is a big drop.
I have phoned my ISP provider up (SKY) they have tested my line and say I am getting Connection Speed 9172 kbps / 798 kbps .
If this is the case why am I seeing such a drop in my connection?
All I have hooked up to my PC is my Xbox360 and this unit is not switch on when I ran the test.
As far as SKY are concerned it is not a problem for them,so I am left with paying for a speed I am no where getting.
I would love to hear of others opinions on this topic or any solution?

There may be nothing wrong with your line, but what you are seeing is called congestion.

In essence where your data merges with everyone elses onto the Sky Backhaul at the exchange there not be capacity for the amount of data everyone is trying to use. Thus people see speeds slower than the maximum possible on the line.

If it is congestion you should be able to do a few tests over a 24 hour period and notice them being worse at peak times.

Although you are right about traffic congestion and peek times I do not think this is the case with me.
I only showed two ex-samples of my speed tests although here are more showing different times and dates.

As you can see my up load speed as been consistent in the peek times although my down load speed as taken a dramatic drop from this date : 18/03/11 12:23 Fri 2229 Kbps 668 Kbps
it just dropped for some reason and as levelled out to a very low speed.

Have you tried resyncing your router, (in the daytime)?

Isn't a MegaGig (MG) = a Peta (P)?

We don't usually see BB speeds that fast; usually in Mbps (Mega bits / sec).

Sounds like you need a takeaway rather than an ISP.

I live in West Yorkshire,the exchange is only a few miles away from my address.
I sympathise with you if you are experiencing slow speeds due to area location?.
I am just glad my up load speed is constant as I like to game on line and the up load is important although I would love to know why I have got a drop so low in down load in under a week.
As for the ISP I do not under rate them it is just at the moment I seem to have a spanner in the works which I can not find.

I am going to sound very naive but I am not sure what you mean?.
I have rebooted the the Segem @fast router I have also opened all relevant ports.
Still no joy.

we are only seeing peak time tests here
have you tried at really late/early times during the day?
what about a bundle of times over the space of a single day
granted neither of which will fix the issue, it just may give you a better idea tho....
