i have been with bt totalbroadband for half a year now and seem to never be able to download any file faster than 800kb/s , i did the file test speed was 713kb/s on 45 min tv show and even on torrent it dont go above 800 kb/s yet when i do the btbroadband speedtest that they recommend it comes up with 6500kb/s , can anyone tell me whats wrong , my specs below

avg 2011 internet security with main program files allowed in resident sheild
using bt home hub 2.0 wired direct with one laptop connected wirelessly rarely and that has same speed issue as my tower
i have noise suppresser fitted before phone socket
my motherboard supports dual lan but only one socket used
when i hover mouse over net icon it says Network internet access with a red cross in it cant seem to get rid of it
