Virgin Media GOOD RIDDANCE!!

Been with Virgin Media since NTL days when I suddenly 'found myself' with Virgin. Seemed to be ok at first though the first sign of things not being too good was when I asked for a wireless router which was like pulling teeth. I had to agree to stay with them for at least 12 months before they would give me one! Then when that went bang a few months later they flatly refused to replace it and told me i'd have to pay for another. I didn't buy one.

After looking at recent phone call charges I decided i'd had enough and i'm moving over to BT where at least I won't have to pay for 0845/0870 numbers plus any UK numbers will be totally free anytime.

Just had to contact Virgin Media for a MAC code and it's taken a total of 1hour and 12 mins to get anywhere (they cut me off twice after 20 odd minutes of waiting). Even now they can't give me this damn code over the phone...I have to wait for them to email it!

Ever likely Branson owns an island and I don't! I'll be glad to see the back of Virgin Media.

Interestingly, Richard Branson is one of the few who actually listens to the complaints of his (ex)customers.

BTW the 0870 numbers can be bypassed with saynoto0870.

Yes I use the 'no to 0870' but premium rate numbers are on the increase with even local stores, banks etc using them (which really annoys me).

Branson really should be listening very hard right now as VM's call centre is just a total shambles. The fair side of me says maybe they are very busy (ermmm......employ people!!). The cynical side of me tells me that they knew they had a customer who was about to leave so milk it for all it's worth.

No......i'm bl**dy furious and fed up at VM's rip off methods.

shame you are having issues...as far as rip off goes....hmmmm...none that i can see this side..in fact it's the opposite.the new web site makes it very clear exactly how your bill amount was worked out...

as far as moving to bt goes.......sometimes better the devil you know...

was it virgin media cable or there adsl service you were on ??...

btw hope things get worked out for you..



edit: just noticed that you requested a mac code...so it was there adsl you were on......

yea it is well known for being a bit pants....

Yes ADSL. I live in a non-cable area so fairly limited to choice of isp. My mate has Virgin and is perfectly happy with it......but he's cable and gets a far better deal than I can with VM.

I'm just pretty peed off with the shambolic service (so called) each time I phone VM they seem to milk you for every penny they can get. Never get a straight answer and you are always put on hold.....and thats after going through endless daft menu's.

I was with BT before moving to NTL. Couldn't fault the service but NTL came out with a 24/7 internet access for £15 a month. I actually waited to see if BT would match NTL but they didn't.....so I moved.

With NTL years back......in the dial up days!

I don't live in a cable area and it will never go cable either....i'm out in the sticks!

Do you have any LLU at your local exchange? See http://www.samknows.com/broadband/exchange_search

For instance Sky LLU may offer better value than BT.

Are you sure? Many companies are adopting 03xx numbering, which is charged the same as 01 and 02 numbers, and is included within most call/minutes packages.
