Moved to BT from O2 and speed down by 31%

I moved last week from O2 to BT and my download speed fell from 3.8Mb to 2.7Mb and my upload speed from 0.74Mb to 0.37Mb. I have had long conversations with BT who eventually say they can nothing to improve my speeds. If I try to leave them, they will charge me a termination fee as the speed they provide falls within the 1.5Mb to 5.5Mb range they quoted.

Anybody offer a solution??

What doe the BT speedtest say?

Please can you try to find the router/line stats. It sounds as though you have been provisioned on ADSL due to the low estimate, rather than ADSL2+.

The BT speedtest confirmed the numbers.

I think he meant after proceeding to the Further diagnostics page, which gives the IP profiles.

You are right - I have an ADSL connection. My O2 connection was ADSL2+. What are the implications??

Upload capped at 448kbps sync.

Download has fewer frequencies available, though at your sort of speed it wouldn't normally cause the loss you have experienced. In fact it would often cause a downstream increase.

Do you know your attenuation figures? I suspect your line/wiring is under-performing and always has been. In which case we may be able to get you to better than on O2. (But not the upstream, unless you can get them to upgrade you to ADSL2 or ADSL2+).
