I'm a Freeserve, Wanadoo, Orange, and now EE customer. I've had the 'up to' 38 Meg fibre package for 10 months, and have got a rock solid 33 Meg with monthly Sam Knows reports to prove it. 8 days ago connection went out completely for 5 days, then came back up erratically at 6 Meg, now seems stable at 7 Meg, still waiting for Openreach engineer, after 4 no shows in a week . . I have a feeling i've been sneakily 'traffic shaped' ? Anyone have any thoughts ?

Sounds more like someone has cut the fibre link and you have been put back on adsl to keep a connection going.
As ever STATS.....

From a previous post of mine:-
"Talking about faceplates, I returned from holiday last Friday to find I had no phone service, (broadband appeared to be working), Got onto Sky and OR appeared yesterday. He did some tests and said the faceplate was duff. (Apparently we had had some severe local storms in our area.) He said it was the third faceplate he had had to replace that day and maybe there had been a faulty batch. He opened up a brand new faceplate from it's plastic wrapper, fitted it, ran another test, and that one was duff too! Replacing it with another new one everything was fixed.
Now just got wait for DLM to be reset.........."

Yes, phone is fine .

I suspect, like myself, DLM has intervened. My rocksteady 39999/1000, after the faulty faceplate fiasco, is now 16945/1000........just got to wait........

Finally got an Openreach guy here today (I was in total shock) He said my 'cabinet' connection was good, but replaced my white Openreach modem with a newer model, and said they're all notoriously dodgy and prone to overheating (one customer getting through 5 in 3 months). It seems that when the modem went iffy, DLM kicked in ? He reset the fibre connection, and after half an hour, i'm back to 32 Meg + Down, but oddly, at the moment only 2.3 Meg Up ? Time will tell I guess . . .

Gald it was something simple.
I wonder if the modems that fail. Are not being kept in a well ventilated area.

Mine was mounted on an external wall well clear of radiators, and from the way the Openreach guy was talking, I got the impression they were just of a dodgy design and inherently pretty unreliable, he said "always got 40 or 50 in the van" . . . .
