SSE Slow Down

I have been with SSE since Oct 9th and am on Ultra Fast Fibre at 56/19, roughly the same that I was on with BT if not slightly faster, Youtube vids in 720 and 1080 wouldnt load or play and I was even offered resolutions I had never seen before 144 !!!
Trying to download files or Torrents gets about the same speeds 1mbs or under, Saturday I had problems all day even trying to load web pages.
From the Moneysavings Expert Forum they suggest using testmynet for speed tests, my average is 1.3Mbs down and 14 up during the day, but leave it running all night and after midnight till about 8am its getting full speed.
I phoned SSE to complain about Youtube and a few days later I can now watch 1080 vids with no problems.
I have ditched the open reach modem and have configured the TG789vac router to use its internal modem, hoping for a speed increase, but it didnt help
SSE are sending an Engineer out next week, but im sure its them throttling the network with heavy traffic management.
Has anyone else has speed/download problems during the day?

So the engineer came round today did the usual speed tests no problems, but I asked him to do download tests, and he was amazed how bad it was, He tried the tests on here and it took ages, but he did say " oh its Daisy" . He tried testmynet and it wouldnt finish the test.
He said he would put a report in to my ISP.

Several hours later I phoned SSE for an update and was on hold for about an hour before I was told to ring BB faults direct as it would be quicker and they gave me the number. When the guy answered I told him my problems and he said ok go to thinkbroadband and download the 512mb file, should take about 70 seconds, he says. when I say back its gonna take over an hour, he seems to think I have a problem.....no [censored] !
He is going to escalate it and maybe get me out of my contract, he should phone back tomorrow, he had never seen a connection so bad.

Has anyone else got problems??

A friend of mine has exactly the same problem with is ADSL2+ .gets 20mbps on average sync speed according to the modem. perfect for watching you tube in 1080p, and downloads about 2.1-2.2 MB/s that's bytes.

a 1GB download will just stop mid download, then start again a few minutes later.

720p and 1080p on youtube rarely work.

Modem/router's DSL sync and PPP line seem to be up the whole time, it's not dropping out.

It is definitely an SSE network issue, a poor throttling engine or congestion. and phone calls to SSE complaining seem to cure it temporarily, assuming you can get through.

Exact same issues here. It's like someone throwing a switch overnight - you can see it perfectly if you leave the autotest running overnight on testmy.net.

I'm struggling to view my Slingbox (that's located in the USA). Previously I was with BT with no issues. Still having the daily joust with SSE 'tech' support. I also had issues viewing Youtube and strangely Gmail would also hang. Speed drops from 62mb down overnight to 2mb during the day. Looks like I'm gonna ask to leave - hopefully they will release me

SSE called me back today and I spoke to Mike a manager in BB faults he says I can migrate away from them with no charges as my BB isnt up to scratch with them. Result, Only been with them 1 month

Today my speeds have gone up ! I did testmynet at 6am and was getting 56mb down and 14mb up, its usually 1.3mb down and 8 up at that time, and now I have torrents at 26mb down and 10 up, which has NEVER happened with SSE before, strange

Sounds like congestion I would move as it probably will happen again

Dont think so, I had "congestion" with BT infinity 2, started off at 68mb going upto 73mbs, then it went down and down over a few weeks to 37mbs constant speed, 9 engineer visits blamed congestion and alloy cables in the street, nothing could be done, then my Home Hub 5 had a red light and wouldnt recover, something at the exchange had blown and taken my router with it, a new router and exchange fixed, my speeds went back up to 50mbs instantly, congestion??
Now im with SSE my £internet speed" is 57mbs and the download speed, although it started off rubbish, it has over 1 month gone up and up, and is now stable at full speed. so if Mike the manager at BB faults calls me tomorrow tas he arranged to do to ask what my plans are, im staying with SSE

After getting a few days with good speed, it dropped again to 1mb or less for several days, so I got online chat with Sky and they offered to drop their £30 activation fee and gave me £100 credit on my account that would pay or their basic tv package for 1 year....Bonus!! so Im switching to them.
