Virgin Media Ireland GB BB

Since upgrading to 1GB from 240, I have had constant freezes when streaming (e.g. All4Player; Netflix; Youtube etc.). All seems to be working fine, then suddenly i just freezes, sometimes recovers almost straight away, sometimes recovers but "skips frames" (very annoying as you miss part of the programme); and sometimes does not recover, you have to close app, clear cache etc. Happens on all streaming apps, and seems to happen after a period of normal operation.
Virgin have offered to change MODEM, but measuring the BB speed between Modem and TV show it is nearly 1GB, so I don't THINK modem is issue.
Anyone have similar, or ideas on how to fix this ?
I have tried the following :-
Switch from Ethernet to WiFi (I set up a dedicated 5GB channel for this)
Using a proxy - various countries
Switching from NVidia Shield to Firestick Pro

Any advice welcome
