TalkTalk Business a nightmare

[link to this post]

As I am pretty much retired now I'm trying to leave TTB and move back to TT residential, but retaining my number so any old customers can contact me with any queries, what a complete shambles.
TalkTalk residential cannot accept me as TTB are blocking porting my old number and FTTP,
all they can do is start a new line on FTTC with new number, then transfer me to FTTP.
This was escalated right up the ladder (short of CEO office) with residential, and they can only ask me to contact TTB to get it sorted, but trying to do that soon shows the poor state TTB is in, there customer service lines are overwhelmed, online chat can only recommend phoning sales, did that and they tried for 30mins to get customer services to answer, no luck. A ticket has been raised and I'm told they will contact me, what's the odds?

Wow sounds like a total nightmare.

On the basis of how poor the Business side of TT is, do you really want to move over to the Residential side? (I say this as a TT Residential customer).

Do let us know how you get on.

CJT.

Currently on TalkTalk Fibre 150

Previously on NOW TV Broadband up to 38 Mbps, then BT Broadband up to 80Mbps, then Pluse8 Broadband up to 80 Mbps, then Hyperoptic 100Mbps.

I was previously with TT residential and my biggest problem was the poor OR copper. When you know the ropes they are not the worst to deal with, TTB however have been a nightmare to deal with.
p.s. As an example, the phone rang at 4:55pm, display showed it was 'help and support', one ring as I was picking up and it cut, I've no doubt this will count as a call back and ticked off the list.

Are your trying to switch FTTP to Talktalk retail?

Talktalk retail won't allow you to have FTTP with a PSTN line for calls.
They don't sell PSTN without broadband.
Their Digital Voice over FTTP is also not available everywhere (unless that changed very recently).

So basically if their Digital Voice isn't available to your area even if they sorted the porting issue you wouldn't be able to have FTTP with voice from Talktalk retail.

Talktalk retail FTTP had been data only since launch and hasn't been offering Digital Voice for very long.

I have greatly simplified the situation.
I'm looking at getting FTTP from TalkTalk residential, with or without Digital Voice as if they won't do me DV I was just going to port the number elsewhere.
First problem, TT Res can't take over my FTTP, after a lot of digging it appears TTB have fed info into TT Res system which shows only MPF available at property.
Second problem, TT Res offered to take over my copper line and number, then transfer me to FTTP, TTB are somehow blocking porting of number, one question asked of me "Is it already ported to VoIP?", this rings alarm bells with me due to previous problems I've had with TTB and this phone number. I've not as yet tried porting to another VoIP provider, that will be next on list of actions if needed.
As for DV, I'm not 'technically' in a position to have it, but there's ways and means, and I've been offered it by TT Res, although it would have to be on a new number if TTB won't port te number over, that's pretty much a waste of time as I only want it to retain the old number.

Thank you Fran, but I've now been on the phone to TTB and TT Res for several hours today, so far no luck. TT Res say they are blocked from taking service, TTB (who have spoke to them) say they aren't blocking a move. I'm now waiting for return call from 'provisioning' who seemed quite surprised I had their number.

Well I've 'reached out' for most of the day, I've finally given up after hours of calls, TTB continue to say they aren't blocking, TT Res continue to say they are being blocked. Tomorrow I will look at porting number to another VoIP provider, then choose a ISP when FTTP is ceased.
Voipfone look to have a package that will suit me.
