Be Fibre not fit for fibre

[link to this post]

Hi All

I've been with Be Fibre since autumn of last year, with issues from day one but todays efforts beat the last years hands down.
Despite taking my complaints to an ADR, with the ADR going in my favour, receiving a cash payout and reduced remainder of the contract, you would think that Be Fibre would have pulled their finger out, but no.

They advertise " Whatever ruins Christmas, don't let it be your Broadband", sadly this will be exactly what happens.

Attempted to watch a you tube video only to find heavy buffering, did a speedtest via the linksys app, got a blistering 96down and 75 up, despite being on the 900package, things have only got worse over the last hour, with all devices except one removed from the network, and got 66down and 50 up.

Please people don't use Be Fibre, they know they need more "equipment" but just keep adding more and more to the customer base without increasing equipment. Whilst I understand no company is going to install equipment for 100,000 customers when they only have 10,000 customers, clearly they need to do something rapido.

Have you spoken to other people in your area about Be Fibre? are they having exactly the same issues?

Wireless or wifi?

66Mb/s down is still way, way more than you need to watch a film. To me that suggests a router problem.

Sadly with 2 kids on xbox's, even merely watching a you tube video becomes impossible with all the buffering, same with iplayer and netflix

Befibre are insistant that doing the speedtest via the linksys app it rules out equipment after the router giving a speed between router and server end.
It's been awful for the last few weeks and become progressivly worse.

No matter if over wifi or wired connection, all give very low results.

Virgin Media (via Nexfibre) have recently beaten Be-fibre to be the first to offer a service from my pole and from what I've seen it does seem like Be-fibre have their fair share of issues. I would certainly have liked to have gone with them but having taken a look at a group on facebook it seems weekly speed issues are a thing. The speed after drops may be higher than VDSL speed but what normally comes with that is increased latency. If you aren't doing things like gaming where latency is an issue then again it may not be an issue.

I suspect they are limited by their peering links and todays issue seems to have coincided with another game update as they blamed the call of duty released a few weeks ago. Hopefully you can get away from their service but if you haven't found it I would find the group on facebook where a lot more people are seeing issues

Is there a way in the Linksys app of telling whether the WAN interface is connected at 1Gb or 100Mbps? The numbers you're getting are suspiciously like a link is running at 100Mbps. Do you have another Cat5e or Cat6 cable you can try between the Linksys router and the Be Fibre ONT?

hi
I found something after looking through the linksys, says ports for internet x1 1Gbps and another 3x presume these are ethernet 1 Gbps

It seems to be an issue during peak hours, today being pretty miserable clearly people are gaming or watching movies.

The group is called BeFibre Discussions, Help & Support. It’s an unofficial customer setup and I don’t think anybody from BeFibre actually goes there but a lot of people with similar issues as yourself unfortunately
