Hi have recently bought the VM XL package, switched over from Nildram, while i was at work my brother set up the broadband which is the cable modem linked to a Netgear wireless router , we have two PC's in the house and 2 laptops.
Unfortunately i cant seem to get an internet connection? my brothers pc is fine and the laptop are fine they all link onto the wireless network and are able to get online for some reason i cant ?
i can link onto the wireless connection but then cant get online ?
This is really frustrating me ?
any ideas ?

Are you able to see the routers built in webpages, very often at http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.1.1
If security is set up on the router, it is not unknown for computers to show a connection but no data be transferred if the security key you entered was wrong.
Another possibility is your software firewall on your machine may be blocking access out across the wireless connection.

Thanks
i am able to log onto the router, and shows the attached devices and mone as one of the ones attached !
i dint notice any security issue with the router, as the other computers are able to access the net.
i checked my wondows firewall and switched it off , still was nothing ?

Okay so what happens if you open a DOS command prompt window (assuming you are using MS Windows) and then type
TRACERT www.thinkbroadband.com
copy/paste the result it gives you.

For what it's worth - I had exactly the same problem - same set up - when I started down the wireless road. Two pain-filled days talking to a very impatient guy in an Indian call centre - who knew his stuff - but it was a major pain. Now I've gone and bought some HomePlugs to see if that gives me a more robust home network and guess what ..... sigh

For anyone who hasn't got a wireless router yet and is thinking of doing so, the people at Belkin were superb when my wireless connection stopped working. Sorted everything out over the phone in 5 minutes.
