On my Belkin F5D7321-4 you can eneter any MAC address you want at:

Internet WAN, MAC address.

Turn modem off, change the address, once router has restarted, turn modem on again.

http://192.168.100.1

Username and pass = root

Then http://192.168.100.1/TlDefaults.asp

Click 'yes' then 'apply'.

Hey presto, remote reboot.

(That's with the NTL:250 modem, others may differ)

I've also got the NTL 250 modem, but for some reason after I change my MAC on the router, my modem won't respond after the router has been restarted with the new MAC (the 250's power cord needs replacing to get it functioning again). There may be a way around this I believe? thanks

Re: Switching IP address

[re: AlcatelGuy] [link to this post]

When I was with NTL a few years back the IP always used to be "sticky" i.e. you'd get the same one back after a re-boot.

When I signed up to VM a few months ago I got what I thought was a true dynamic IP that changed when I re-booted.

After being cut-off (for outstanding bill despite them sending me an invoice showing I was in credit!) and reconnected I seem to have a sticky IP again. :-(

Any thoughts on how to shake this as it's a SORBs blacklisted one (80.1.105.xxx) whereas the one I had before (86.7.139.xxx) wasn't.

Try any of the tricks that pspr33 suggests here?

I can change the IP address of by going into my Netgear router then into Connection Status and release and renewing it. It's different everytime I do it.

Thanks.

I'm connecting direct to the cable modem. :-(

Thanks.

Looks like it's a case of unplugging the modem for 24+ hours then. :-(
