XXL package and IP bridging/pass through

[link to this post]

Hello

I am thinking of gettin the XXL package when I move in to my new place.

Back in the days (telewest days), the public IP obtained could be passed through to a device behind the modem, so I could get the actual public IP on the device/firewall of my choice.

Is this still the case with virgin media and their packages? or is the modem doing the usual NATing stuff...

Thanks for your help.

K

Still the same. The modem passes the public IP to the device it's plugged into, be that a host, router or firewall.

If it's a host, no problem - 1 IP. If it's a router / firewall you will need to do the NAT-ing
