Unable to connect to wireless router

[link to this post]

HI, I've been asked to help sort out a friend who cannot connect to there wireless router.
From what they've said is that theyve recently had Virgin installed who have installed a wireless router/modem.
So far 2 people have been able to connect to the router but tthe 3rd have not been able to, it connects but comes up with "limited connection" in vista. So I assume it's not being assigned a IP address.

They havent managed to get any one else to try to connect to it yet but will.
So I was wondering do virgin still limit the number of pcs that can be used with the service?
If not is there anything that I can check / look at to help find out what the problem is

Cheers
Dan

"Limited connectivity" does normally mean the PC was unable to obtain an IP address. I have encountered the same problem on a number of occasions, and in some cases I have found this link helpful:

http://forums.techguy.org/networking/821669-cant-get...

However this does refer specifically to Windows XP, so I'm not sure whether it would work in Vista, or maybe the procedure will need some adaptation.

The IP address allocation is done by the router, not Virgin, so it's very unlikely there is any limit being imposed.

Good luck!

Cheers.
I only thought it could be that because the old cable modems had a limit on them.

They solved there problem by updating there drivers.
