Getting a street connected to an existing cabinet?

[link to this post]

Hi

I've just realised after checking postcodes etc that our street is the only one in the area not connected to a VM cable cab. I guess this has happened as our development took place after VM installed the service to the existing roads. The housing development / street is no more than a couple hundred meters from existing VM enabled locations, do you think VM would be able to connect us to an existing cabinet?

The little development that doesn't have cable is maybe 35-40 houses but everyone has sky / broadband etc and it could be a nice little encatchment for what might be a small outlay? How would I even approach this?

They measure demand at non-cabled locations.

It's worth a try, though I wouldn't be too optimistic, where we used to live was in a large 80s/90s built estate in a town which was cabled everywhere but for our estate, and the estate couldn't get ADSL either. So running the cable from the neighbouring estate seemed like a no-brainer since anyone wanting broadband would have to have cable so the take up should be decent.

That was years ago and nothing has changed since.
