The IP in question is 216.66.80.26
From a dedicated server in Reading, this router has a ping round trip time of 2ms (blindingly fast), which one would expect, as it is a UK based IP address.
However, same ping from our Virgin cable connection shows 90ms round trip time. I contacted HE and a very helpful chap confirmed that for some bizarre reason, Virgin's network insists on routing traffic to this address off to New York. HE's router replies directly, which explains why this round trip time is slightly faster than typical times to hosts on the east side of the US - basically, the traffic is currently asymmetrically routed, with one direction going half way around the planet.
I've confirmed this asymmetry with Linux tracepath:

Unfortunately, I'm not a direct customer of Virgin (the connection is supplied by my landlord). So talking to them about this is out the question. I notice on the TBB site, there is no contact email address for their support department either.
Is there anything I can do to raise this mildly annoying issue with them?
Oh and before I forget, a happy new year to you all!
