Just wondering if anyone has taken up 100MB yet and what they think of it..... So far no complaint from me hitting a decent speed of average 95meg down / 9 up.
Although I do wish the engineer did not take away my 50meg modem and router seperates when he brought the new super hub after reading peoples comments of the new hub on here...... Nevermind.
So anyone made the jump like me ???

Your speed looks great. I can't wait till i move back home. My father is on VM 20 meg. The minute i move in that's going upto 50, then when 100 is live i'm upgrading to that too.

I wish VM would post dates when each area will be getting 100MB. I'm on 50 atm and while the speed is fine, its nice to know how long I will have to wait.

There is a page either on here or the VM website that gives you the planned upgrade dates for each area.

No 100Mbit here in Norwich yet, but 50Mbit is still pretty much as fast as always, it's rare I don't get max throughput on servers I know provide it, speed tests are usually 50mbit on the nose, if there's any contention in the area at the exchange or on the backhaul then I'm not seeing it during most hours.
I have high hopes for 100mbit actually maxing the line speed easily, about 95Mbit+ real speed test, the thing I'm looking foward to the most is the added upload, I run all sorts of stuff from my home PC, my personal vent server, my development websites, databases etc, this all benefits from upload going up by a factor of nearly 10x

What i am trying to find out is when the Gorleston exchange will be upgraded.
My parents live in Great Yarmouth and putting their postcode in samknows it comes up with the Gorlestone exchange. It says it is VM enabled and so is the Great Yarmouth exchange. I can find the Great Yarmouth Exchange on that website i posted but not the Gorlestone one..?

VM don't use exchanges.
Go to http://tools.virginmedia.com/ from your VM connection and check your client host name. It should start with something like CPCn-XXXXnn- Match the XXXX up with the rollout schedule short name

Ohhh so samknows is well kinda wrong then when it lists the exchange as having VM...?
I never knew that

Its not really wrong as the site lists for Broadband and Cable Availability.
While a 100 meg is impressive users on 50 meg moving to a 100 will not notice much- would be better if VM increased the upload more instead of pushing for a higher faster speed.

just to let you guys no......
i was talking to one of the tech guys from VM yesterday and he told me that my area has been upgraded and goes live for increased upload and 100Mb on march the 1st....
on the list above it says that my cab would be ready on :
Cowcaddens
cowc
Sep-11
i told him this and he said that these dates are very loose and most will be enabled before these dates..
good news as the increased upload is something i have been looking forward to....
not sure if i will upgrade to 100Mb,not because of cost but i don't really think i will need it.
interested to hear from anyone that has upgraded to 100Mb,apart from the 10Mb upload, why do you feel that you need 100Mb and what will be your main use for it.
cheers guys

My upstream was upgraded early December against the scheduled Jan 2011. My 100Mbps is scheduled Sep 2011 but I won't be upgrading. If they'd done the free 20-30 upgrade a month earlier I wouldn't have upgraded from 20 to 50.

We haven't got it where I am yet (Torquay) although I am going to call VM shortly and upgrade to 50Mbit, I thought since I get a free install then it makes more sense than paying £30 for the 30Mbit broadband (the way I see it, I'll cut down the paper billing and 24/7 calls which will cover the upgrade to 50Mbit).
When 100Mbit comes to Torquay I may go for it, the kids are using the Internet more especially for watching videos and things and I'm starting to notice that we're hitting the STM more.
