I certainly don't get anywhere near 5% pay increase, twice a year. frown

ok but think further back, broadband has not been going up 5% a year every year, its not the same thing as electric/gas going up large amounts every year. Also you can downgrade if you want. So if its a 5% rise with 3 years before it no rise its really average 1.66% a year. At some point prices will go up as VM have been spending money on infrastructure lately to handle new speeds, this money has to come from somewhere.

Incidently my price has gone down not up, so I dont know where you got this double 5% from.

It certainly doesn't seem to be universal. I suppose they charge what and where they think they can get away with?

There are limits but VM aren't saying what they are......

Yes, I agree there must be limits, but they are going to be fair and based on the speed, so you don't use your limit up in three hours as you could do with many ISPs.

PAYG is still around on both dialup and 3G. Of course dialup is a tad slower than your 10Mbps and 3G would be both slower and probably more expensive but by quitting VM you would be making a firm stand against their price increases. I doubt many will join your protest though.

No: switching suppliers is still to difficult. frown

Above is especially true if you have a phone line with VM as there seems to be no procedure for transferring your current phone number. If you are with BT the number is automatically ported.

TalkTalk are doing a deal ATM - £12 a month for line & BB I understand!

I though all operators offered number porting. In fact I thought they had to but must admit I'm far from certain.

The main drawbacks to moving from cable to ADSL (imo) are...

18 month contract on BT line unless you pay and sometimes you have to pay anyway if there was never a BT line.

ADSL can be dire on long lines and often is on short ones if you pick a rubbish ISP

Like for like cable is actually cheaper - you only save if you don't need more than a few GB a month usage.

I've managed to go from Bell cable to BT then back to NTL with the same number but it was a *lot* of hassle! Lost two separate numbers this way and no one gives a flying * as far as the regulators etc go.

Offer from Talktalk gives 40G a month, which isn't bad IMHO. New line with them is £30 I think, due to some cashback offer, which is fair. I think I had to pay £40 to VM for re-connection last time.

My line is quite long and I only get about 2M, but that's fine for browsing and email.
