Nope, parents tried to get it ported back to BT so they could move house as the new property was in a VM black hole. So being an organised lot my folks decided to port the phone back prior to moving and then make use of BT's home mover service. The rest of the farce as they say is history.

Six months down the line and the line rental is going up 91p. frown

How many of you are getting over 20% wage increases every six months to cover this?

I thought you were moving to TalkTalk.

I successfully ported my VM number to Vonage. Now I only have VM broadband. Phone is VOIP and mobiles only. VM can do just what they like with all their telephony charges and I won't care.

Why would you get want a 20% wage increase to cover 91p?? Especially as it's only a 7% increase for the service. Plus, you have 30 days to tell them to cancel if you dont like it.

Overreacting much?

You are right: 91/1299 = 0.07.

Still 7% is still much greater than the average wage increase!!

What's the current rate of Inflation? 5%?

my food, gas and electric costs concern me a tad more wink

VMs price rises pale in comparison, although I think the phone line costs are uncompetitive they hardly crippling.

VM put BB charges up a while back, so you can't win. frown

Don't they increase the charge if you drop a service as well?

I looked at porting my phone number, but most companies aren't interested. If you include the price of a new BT line in the figures then it's not worth switching. VOIP providers seem better value, but then you have to buy a new handset or software.

Surprised you think most companies are not intersted - there are plenty who'll port numbers, if they can. Some will even give you an adapter to plug your existing handsets into (usually in return for a yearly contract though, but the ATA's are usually about £50 if bought separately)
