60 Mb "XL" package; Are these the right speeds ?

Speedtest.net reports the following results at 01.44 am:

Down 63 Mbps Up 2.9 Mbps

Is this what I should be getting?

Why was I getting 10 Mbps up previously, when connected with VPN.... (but not with the Virgin connection au naturel)?

Those are correct speeds. The 10Mb reported via the VPN was either due to compression or bursts of traffic between the VPN endpoint and the speed test server skewing the result.

Either way your modem is capped at 66Mb down, 3Mb up, those results are correct.

You're welcome. When VM have completed the network upgrades in your area and 120Mb has been released you should see your service increase to 6Mb upload speed.

Check http://doublespeed.virginmedia.com/ for this.

Is the increased upload speed restricted to the 100MB package?
Because Virgin says my area is already upgraded, however as you saw, I am still on 3MB up... Don't want to upgrade to 100, it's totally OTT for my downloading needs. What I need is faster upload.

At the moment the ratio is 20:1 on the upgraded packages, it's changing to 10:1 once the network upgrades for 120Mb are done.

The 120Mb introduces upstream bonding, at the moment customers are on an 18Mb upstream channel, with the bonding they change to being on 2 or 3 18Mb channels bonded together, and VM can run on a 10:1 ratio.

For the upload the options are to either try and wangle an upgrade to the 100Mb package with a 10Mb upload, the original 100Mb package rather than the doubled 50Mb package or wait until the time on the double speed site when you'll get a 6Mb upload.

Hi again! Thanks for helping me again. Had to look up "wangle" since English isn't my native language... How would I go about wangling that out of them then....? If there's any way I can get it without actually paying for it, then I am interested, of course!

A couple of weeks ago got a 120/12Mb/s install. A recent speed test at speedtest.net got 126.86Mb/s down and 11.42Mb/s up. This was the highest from three tests together. We get around these figures on the tests we do from time to time.
