Hi
How can I get the Superhub 2 to change IP address?
If I put router into Modem Mode for a week or 2 will it change?
Any help would be appreciated?

Na ur wrong there mate billing nor tech support will change ur IP Address.
When i spoke to billing and retensions to upgrade me from 120mb to 152mb when it was done i still had the same IP address i've had for months.
The last time my IP address changed was when i put SH2 into modem mode and added my own router which obviously added its own MAC which was different from SH2 causing an IP change and that was about 3 months ago.

it does give a host name but it doesn't state whether or not its residential or business.

Well I switched into modem mode yesterday and going to stop there for a while now and see if i can get it to unstick..
If not then looks like I'm no longer using the superhub 2 anymore.

basically change the router MAC (modem mode is easy way to do that).
Stay in modem mode for long enough for the old DHCP to expire, not sure how long it is, might be a week or month. Then when you switch back should be new ip.
If VM do a node split and you are on the new side of the split, that would also change your ip address.

We'll I have BQM's setup on both my old router mode ip and my new modem mode ip and will probably just wait until the old one starts pinging though I know that not likely going to happen even if it does get reassigned.

Well I've woke up today and i've gone from a resi to a business static IP address and I don't know why. When I go to the "more info about you" bit of whatsmyip I get told I am on a "static.virginmediabusiness.co.uk" address.
I have residential 50mbps.
So work that one out!!
Easy - a new scope has probably been added to your CMTS which has the wrong information on its reverse DNS, or a DNS update has gone a bit Pete Tong.
Doesn't make the IP address static just means the reverse DNS is wrong.
If you want to know what the scope actually is more detail should be obtainable from www.ripe.net

oh - they've had a reverse DNS tidyup
My end of a 100Meg fibre circuit from them used to reverse lookup as a *.dial.ntli.com address i.e. apparently a dialup modem pool address!
Now it's a static.virginmediabusiness.co.uk one

yes, with an in-addr.arpa for the /24 in question on the returned hostname. How odd!
The obvious valid forward address (ending virginmediabusiness.co.uk) resolves correctly though.

If you change your MAC address your IP will change.
Unfortunately I don't think this is possible to do with the standard VM router, but very easy to do running a 3rd party router and putting the VM router into modem mode.
