Newbie hoping to see bouquets/brickbats!

[link to this post]

Frustrated by problems with our pedal-driven internet (which I'm convinced are down to BT OR) I have been investigating swapping to Virgin. Have got the figures for 50mb/s and phone. We don't want telly.

Before committing, however, it would be useful (and much appreciated) if I could read any observations from you guys about your experiences. And I'd be specially interested in any comments re customer service/support.

Many thanks!

They're not bad, actually. I got a nice price reduction from CS when I rang about something else. My connection is rock solid (145 Mbs through the wire) but wireless can be flaky if you don't use your own router or switch to 5GHz.

Never had a single issue with Virgin ever, I am in N.Ireland though and capacity has never been an issue.

It's a lottery

I've used Virgin most of my Internet life and as mentioned performance depends on area due to many users.

Best thing to do IMO is get it installed and test it for a week or so and then you should know if its for you or not.

If its not for you just leave during the cooling off period.

I'm also in the same boat, 1-3mbps on ADSL here so Virgin was the only option for a busy household.

My experience of Virgin has been good and bad, these days its ok, few years back it used to be terrible but when a few streets all stop paying there bills and the MP stood up for the area, they soon upgraded it and haven't really stopped either since.

I'm here to learn and help others using my experiences, not to argue with obnoxious people.
VirginMedia - Speed Test's: TBB | Ookla - BQM's: RS | AAISP | TBB

Thanks guys. Must admit, I'm somewhat turned off by a pushy saleswoman.
