upload increase? new speed tiers?

im currently in the process of moving and have the 156mb broadband and looking for an upload increase to 20mb if poss, now should be moving by end of may but fttc is aval and quite close to the cab but happy with my virgin service and virgin is there, not as a mover im told i will have to commit to another 18 months (not wanting to commit if no change), just wondering if 12mbs is the max virgin will be offering this year? ive read the 100mb/200/300mbs tired may be coming but is that only in wales where there testing? i see some people have 200mb config on there superhub over cableforum so really just looking for any info on the future of virgin upload speeds? not too bothered about down as my hard drive cant write that quick when doing other things with it and not investing the 1tb ssd drive ha. if anyone has any future plans and if 2015 is a change in policy maybe or are they happy with the 12mb limit.

no chance! virgin media will never get more than 12Meg on the upstream for at least another year!

Yeah the most likely course of events for right now is that the 300Mb tier will carry an upload of 20Mb.

The 200Mb configurations are just to test downstream load upon uplift, so haven't had any upload increase, those aren't the final configurations.

To be fair, they should tier the upload at 10% of the download connection.

This would allow for better bang for buck for heavy users.

VM don't want heavy users and aren't going to spend a ton of money purely for them when they don't get any return for it

Well OK, maybe I phrased that wrong. Maybe the video streamers/uploaders would want a better upload than the 12Mbps.

They'll get it from the new tiers though it won't be 10:1 as things stand.

12Mb should be fine for 1080p streaming though.

Well it depends where your streaming maybe youtube?

when im on twitch it only allows 3.3Mbps bit rate to stream.

Nah 12Mb is ample even for 1080p unless you're going to be doing it without using modern compression.

steam max broadcast setting is 3.5mbit/sec with max res at 1080p, I think with steam tho you stream directly meaning it would be 3.5mbit per user (not sure on this).

No. Works like Twitch. Streaming to a server which then distributes to clients.

I don't have much to say that I won't get my nuts cut off for sharing for right now.

My modem seems to be synced at 330 down/16 up. Looks like I was selected as part of the trial (didn't hear anything from VM about it)
