Thanks for all the replies - a reboot last night helped give me a boost to at least make it useable. VM were in my street today and looked like they were feeding cable through though it was on the opposite side of the street I'm based on.

I'll definitely keep an eye out on the router though, thanks for the heads up. Straight back it will go if it does turn out to be nothing but a cooker.

You can check the temperatures via telnet :

cat /proc/dmu/temperature

qcsapi_sockrpc get_temperature

Most people see the CPU running at 95C or above, some as high as 120C.

Placing the router on a Coolermaster notebook cooler drops the temps dramatically and will prevent an early death of the CPU.
