Business Voom 500 (Giving 80-->200 Down and 30 Up) ????

[link to this post]

As the subject suggests, I installed a Voom 500 Business with a subnet of 13 IPs.
I am getting anything from 80 to 200 Download and almost almost always 25-30 Upload.
Tested during all hours including some very unsocial hours (3-4am). The result is always the same.

The SAME (splitted) cable has a residential line on it with 200/10 service that works almost as advertised.

Clearly the performance is under 50% which means I can cancel anytime I like however I don't have FTTC in the area!! frown

Anyone having the same issues with this product (with assigned subnet)?

Remove the static IP configuration on the Hitron. Ideally put it in modem mode and plug something decent into it to do wireless and routing. Job done.

Well I have done this on a residential line (SuperHub2 with 1x sticky IP), changed to modem-mode and successfully gave the sticky IP to the WAN of my own router (pfsense).

In this case however there is a GRE tunnel inside the Hitron that facilitates the subnet IPs.
I know the login credentials for the GRE but NOT the endpoints needed to configure the GRE inside pfsense.

Furthermore, inside Hitron there is NO OPTION to change to modem/bridge mode!

Am I missing something?

Potentially. In the Hitron GUI: BASIC -> Disable router function. You are now in modem mode.

Well, I had checked before posting...and did again now.
There is no such option under BASIC menu or anywhere else.
I am connecting as admin.
By the way, do you have a subnet or not? Maybe they disable this option to those who do have?

Please let me know.
Tks

Do indeed have a subnet.

Are you on software version 4.5.10.192-CD-UPC?

I'd be tempted to factory reset the beast and see if that exposes the 'Basic' menu to you.

Obviously that'll take down the service for a little while.

Sorry this is proving so painful for you. They have evidently messed with the modems somewhat.

I think I did that. I can't remember as I do reset several things every day in my job.

Anyway, just to prepare for this (as I can't have long downtime) can you please let me know:

1) In your setup, is Hitron getting the first usable IP and builds the GRE? Because if this is the case then you're not really in modem mode...as the Hitron does the job of creating the GRE.

2) If you are in modem mode... how do you build the GRE in your equipment?
I have a PfSense waiting to be connected and I can assign the 1st usable IP.
What about the GRE settings? What are the local/remote endpoints you're using?
Any help is MUCH appreciated!

Contact there tech support, there's issues with that firmware, I upgraded to VOOM 500 and I had random drop outs and my speeds were all over the place there 1st line tech support are awful but after a week of ringing them ever day, I got a call from the department who could roll it back and now I'm on 4.5.10.173-UPC speeds and connectivity have stabilised much better now
