I am trying to find out what VM's plans are for the rollout of 1gig here in Peterborough.

I still cant get cityfiber here where I live yet either.

Does anyone know anything or where to go for some info?

There is no publicly available schedule for when individual areas will be enabled.

If another operator might be building to you soon probably best to be wary of a new contract especially given it's really not all that just yet.

Building better networks, not just faster ones.
