I've got no plans to upgrade, don't need the extra speed over what I have on the downstream, more up would be nice, but we also have FTTP being deployed in our area with some parts now live. So depending on pricing I may be able to get away from Virgin, they are great until something goes wrong.

I currently pay £35 for phone and M350 and talked to them yesterday about upgrading.

I got M500 for £45, so an extra £10 a month but also a £20 credit.

What did they quote you if you don't mind me asking?

I've no idea how you got BB and phone for less than they're selling it now. I wouldn't be bothered trying to call up for ages to haggle.

My mate beat that. He upgraded to M500 from M350 for just £40 a month but no credit. He happy his download speed is 548Mbps and 41Mbps up

The 350 & 500 packages have the same upload. So you might still be able to get the 350 package and pay less if you want higher upload. Or are you in one of those areas where you're limited to the 200 package?

EDIT - the little tinkers have adjusted the new customer packages to only 20mb on the 350, it did used to be 36.

I spoke to them on the online chat, took about 2 hours for them to get back to me.

When I joined VM I was paying £30 for talk weekend phone and M200.

I upgraded from M200 to M350 for an extra £5

and now I upgraded to M500 for an extra £10 bringing my monthly total to £45.

Back when I was with Talk Talk I was getting 80mb and phone for £35 so for £45 with what I got now that seems good to me.

And of course I got this £20 bill credit as well to sweeten the deal.

My discounts end in November after 12 months of being with them and I will be paying £69

But I guess I can talk to them about getting a better price when the time comes.

When I put my details in on the website it said I could get 500 but when they rang me back they could only do 350/20. I'd just like some extra upload speed as I stream sim racing online.

Its not always about being able to use things like Netflix 4k streams in multiple rooms or devices...

For me its about download time. I don't want to wait 1 or 2 or more hours for a game to download before I can play it.

Games like Call of Duty 2019 are a 100GB download and on M500 I can get that downloaded in less than an hour. With M350 is was closer to 1.5 hours and back with M200 it was over 2 and for those who get the full 80MB on FTTC its going to take almost 5 hours.

Now, please go back under your bridge.

Yeah, no. Not quite.

Its a mix of both.

If you have a family of 4 all gaming, streaming etc at the same time, like in the evenings then your gonna need some good speed.

If you have a family of 4 but its email, voip, Facebook then you don't need the speed

Or you could be like me as I said before, just not wanting to wait for larger downloads.

It could also be about work and time. Time is money after all.

What a load of nonsense.

You do remember that you ordered G.Fast on a 2nd line a couple days ago? You would probably still be going ahead with it if the ISP hadn't cancelled your order.

Why do you need to jump on other people's threads telling them what speeds they do or don't need?

Some people have large families, some work from home, some have hobbies that require more bandwidth.
The fact you don't need more speed doesn't mean nobody else does.

You're letting broadband go to your head again. Go out and enjoy the sunshine.

Shot an email off to the CEO/Exec Complaints to see what they can rustle up.

First real issue with them like this on phone, but I'm sure the CEO Team will sort it for me. I usually go to them as a go to, excellent and quick response.

During COVID I'm not sure they're operating to the same capacity though
