Prices going up by £7 per month (on 1 Gig Volt)

[link to this post]

On 1Gig Volt currently. Got an email today saying my prices are going up by £7 per month from 1st May 2023. Funnily enough pricing for new customers is not going up .... yet (according to their website).

They have however given the option to leave by 1st May which is good news as I was thinking of moving to equivalent BT Fibre anyway . Probably better time to changeover will be in the last 1-2 weeks of April when pricing for other companies has stabilised.

Frying Pan into Fire? Almost everyone is putting prices up, not unexpected given costs of electricity has increased dramatically.

With it been VM, you will probably be able to haggle it off your account.

I'm on M350 and they are also putting mine up by £7, why should I have the same £7 increase as someone who probably paying a lot more than me? This increase equates to almost a 20% rise.

Edit: That was a productive 40 minute phone call, 3% increase with out renewing the contract.

I wish OR would install fibre around here.

Virgin tried it on me and when i negotiated it to a 1.50 increase they accidently discounted my M500 from £29 a month (originally) to £23.40 a month, put it this way, I'm not complaining a price rise has turned into a price drop.

Many Thanks,

Stick notice on the account and let their retentions call you back. Best way to get what you want.

Virgin wanted to increase my £42 package to £48. After a lengthy negotiation and the involvement of a helpful agent on the Virgin help forum I have ended up with £36, no new contract and a speed increase from 50Mbps to 125Mbps. This includes anytime phone calls. Happy with that.
