House not on website

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Recently I was trying to order VM to my surprise my house is not listed on the website, I contacted virgin who said the checker is correct I cannot order perhaps due to a blockage or similar and told me that it wasn't likely that they would ever resolve this.

I live in a semi-detached house my neighbor already has it installed the cabinet is on the edge of his property so very close to my house. Also my area is not currently in a rollout for FTTP so VM was my only hope in the short term.

Has anyone else had a similar issue that VM managed to resolve?

Thanks

Do you have a access box on the pavement somewhere along the front of your garden/driveway?

Quite likely a database error, if your semi-detached neighbour has the service installed. If you can't get anywhere with Virgin, you could try registering for the Virgin Community forums, (if possible before being a customer); or at worst try sending a PM to Mr Saffron (editor of this site) to see if he has any senior contacts in VM.

You could call 0333 000 5925 and ask how much it would be for a new connection. Virgin media can contribute to construction costs, and it would likely be small being so close. If your property is seen to be covered on their maps then they would be able to get database updated.

By playing their game that you’re willing to consider paying construction costs will help get an answer either way.

Just to give an update on this.

I finally got round to giving this number a call. After a few different departments someone from Virgin gave me a call back. He said there seems to be a DB issue and we've ordered the package I want worse case he said they would need to do some construction work to get me live worse case 8 weeks to install if construction is needed

Thanks for the information
