Virgin Business

I've asked before and took advice to use my bargepole. But now I have no option if I want FTTP.

How much better / worst is the business service (which I'd need for a fixed IP)?

The network is a brand new FTTP cable, not legacy, there was never Virgin here beforehand. Installed last year and live this. Glasgow area.

What's the customer service like for business? Still offshore? Should I cough extra for the 4G backup (there's p poor 4G here so it would be painful to use).

Im on the Hitron Chita on the coax stuff, it has lots of issues and they have been unable to fix it in 8 months so far. (Packet loss every 6 mins) but may or may not have finally made a breakthrough after a 5th engineer visit.
Customer Service is responsive, but from my experience the field engineers are very disconnected from the faults department so they get their wires crossed often. Customer Service might be UK based but technical/faults department isn’t.
They do seem to want to genuinely try to fix the issue you have and my experience is way better than when I dealt with VM Residential.
Afaiik the 4G backup has its own issues, for example it doesn’t work if you’re in Bridge/Modem mode (Gateway functions disabled) if you want to use your own router.

You could use an A&A L2TP tunnel to get your static IP, it depends what the static IP is required for. You get a very sticky IP on Virgin Media's normal service that usually only changes when the modem is swapped.
