I have had Virgin Media about ten days now, one of their deals with 02 Mobile, a Volt package, M500, I have a hub 5x installed and I mainly use wireless, well honestly I always use wireless since I have a home cinema room upstairs with the hub downstairs, yesterday my X Box S reported a packet loss of 1% and speeds of about 276MBPs, latency is always hovering about 34ms/35ms when I test on my IPad Pro or the X Box or my Honor phone, always the same latency and I would like that improved.
I was with a Vodaphone 40MBPs package before I signed up to Virgin, the latency was around 20ms and I thought that was too high, I was told by the salespeople latency on Fibre to the home is under 5ms, anyways testing via Cisco the speeds and latency are different than testing via think broadband.
The Cisco test download speed is 519MBPs, latency is 13ms and no packet loss is listed, the think broadband test, the single thread is always lower and says 406MBPs download and 34ms latency, which one is correct ?
Will a Virgin media Pod improve latency and stop packet loss ?
I mean if latency is reported as 13.4ms on the Cisco site to my iPad Pro, why is think broadband reporting 34ms and why was Vodaphone 20ms and sometimes slightly less, how can I improve latency over a wireless signal ?
Signing up to a combined Virgin and 02 deal didn’t go smoothly either, I ended up having to phone 02 to get the phone deal activated and they called Virgin, when I called Virgin they told me i needed to call 02, not smooth at all, took me over an hour and a half to fix this.
