Virgin Media customers can get a year of free service with the new provider, but will be charged after that.
Anyone still using ISP-provided e-mail or web space should move ASAP. Tying yourself to an ISP because you need to keep a particular e-mail address or website URL has not made sense for years, especially when domains and mail redirection or hosting are so cheap.
I moved to using my own domain for e-mail in 1999, initially redirecting my domain to Demon's mail service. Eventually, I moved to a hosted e-mail service, and then to e-mail hosted on a Microsoft 365 tenant. As I haven't relied on ISP-provided e-mail or webspace since 1999, subsequent ISP changes were straightforward because I used the ISP only for connectivity. I went from Demon to Virgin (well, NTL as it was back then), then to Zen, then, when we moved from TiVo to Virgin 360 TV, I kept Zen and added a Virgin connection for Virgin TV and for backup connectivity.
I don't even know if the ntlworld address that I once had still works. If it does, I don't care if it goes away. I'll watch for the Virgin notification in case that address still works, as I want it deleted rather than migrated.
