New Fibre cable broken - no repair in three weeks

[link to this post]

I won't bore you with the whole saga, but it has been three weeks since the fibre cable from pole to house at roof level came down in a (slightly) high wind.

So far I have called Vodafone 5 times and four Openreach engineers have been booked of whom only 2 actually turned up - neither of whom had the necessary hoist required to fix the cable.

Went to Vod complaints and after two hours on web chat it has now (apparently) been escalated to "Tech 2" and somebody is going to ring me.

What is Tech 2?
Will anybody ring?

Anybody else seen the Monty Python "Gas cooker sketch"?

[Edit: does editing change my sig to my updated one?]
[Edit 2: apparently not!]

Vodafone joined the Ofcom automatic broadband compensation scheme in June, so you may wish to remind them they are owing you £8.06 for each calendar day (after 2 working days) that your service is out of action.

Well that will be £145 so far! Equivalent to 5 months on this contract.

Try reporting direct to Openreach as damaged infrastructure

Yes, I did completely lose service as there was no cable!

The first thing I did was report the damage to the Openreach emergency line three weeks ago. They sent an engineer round that day to "make it safe" (the cable was draped across the road), but he did not fix it - just left me with a cut off end of cable attached to the house.

The problem is now fixed. It needed me to make a complaint though. Two engineers came round on Saturday the 6th and put up a new cable and I now have broadband. I am due substantial compensation at over £8 a day with no service plus compensation for three engineer appointments where they did not turn up.

A break in the cable or fibre can be covered under MBORC if OR declares that. The auto compensation scheme only applies after the first 2 days and even then its only where fixes are straight forward.....i.e don't need substantial fixes like connecting a new cable etc. Not saying you won't be entitled but keep it in mind.
