For the last week and a bit I am experiencing slow download speeds sub 320 on a 900mb line, uploads always 800+.
I've tested WiFi on my phone and that comes in at 900.
I've tested directly plugged into the router with just the laptop and WAN, WiFi disabled and same low speed.
VF swapped out the router but still same.
When I first joined I was stable 700 to 900 down and 800+ up.
I've tried different laptop but same result.
Wits end what could be issue as if it was line, WiFi would be bad as well?

Have you tried another Speedtest server (other than Vodafone's one, as per your tests) to rule that out?

Yes buddy, tried all the ones in the drop down at that time.
I have a IPTV box connected via same switch and that reports 920mb on the analti speed app, it's not cable as I though it might be.
Tried different dingles but same.

Probably then coincidental or nought to do with your local network connection, and more likely general congestion on Vodafone’s side.

Are getting correct IP's https://whatismyipaddress.com/
If IP's are not what expecting are you using VPN or proxy?

No VPN, it's only this single device so more then likely something gone awry with laptop.
Firestck with a USB ethernet connector reported 340 when I tested it on.same cable.

So which is it - all machines affected or just the one?

This time last year the OP was having major speed issues when they was on Sky as I remember contributing to a number of threads they started about it.

Yes. move to BT didn't solve it, BQM showed constant packet loss, BT couldn't find fault either, PL went away and speeds solid 480+.

Just the laptop buddy, I have another GB device on the same cable and that's good speed.

So you’re satisfied that all other wired and wireless connected machines are getting full upload and download speed?
Basically it’s just this one laptop that (recently) seems to have issues getting anything more than 200 or so Mbps download speed? Upload is fine though.
Did anything change on the laptop - new software, any app or OS updates, new peripherals? Anything?
Does this laptop have a built-in NIC or are you using a USB network adapter? Have you tried a different network adapter? Did you say you tried another laptop with the same or better result?

Its just this laptop, its had a windows update but TBH not sure if issues started then or not.
Everything else is getting decent speeds so must be somehting preculiar to thelaptop. I did swap the USB C dongle but still same so 99.99% its the laptop or lapto OS.

Definitely your machine then. Sounds to be software or OS related rather than hardware.

Hi,
I would recommend using a Live USB version of Linux (Ubuntu, possibly) to test your hardware. If the Live stick works fine then it could be an OS issue and you might want to switch to some other OS. If both the Live OS and the "resident" OS (i.e. Windows) both have issues then that would tell me that it's a hardware issue and you might want to change the hardware, if possible.
HTH,
