Vodafone Openreach FTTC to Cityfibre FTTP

[link to this post]

Asking for a friend who hopes to transfer from Vodafone FTTC on Openreach to Vodafone FTTP from Cityfibre once Cityfibre correct their availability records for his property (currently listed wrongly as flats!!).

Will he retain the same login and password detail?

My ask is that he wants to continue using his connected Fritzbox 7530 due to ease of remote access, integrated Wireguard VPN, etc.. I appreciate the possible change of VLAN ID to 911.

For the possible politics of transfer, he has kept the Vodafone THG3000 as a spare should it be required on the day of changeover.

Many Thanks

Only Vodafone can answer with any certainty as to whether he keeps the same logon credentials.

If the THG3000 is Vodafone's preferred router for the new connection - ie if he is not sent another, then he is probably best to set that router up first on the new connection, for which he can expect tech support, then migrate settings over to the Fritzbox.

Having done similar myself, I would suggest that he starts by ensuring that the THG3000 still works on the existing connection, such that he can swap the Fitzbox and the THG3000 in and out without needing any changes on client machines

Thanks for confirming my thoughts on the Vodafone supplied router(s) as an "oven ready" test backup.

I see that he may qualify for a new "Power Hub" router when signing up for a sub gigabit package!

So...it's step by step, firstly to get Cityfibre to amend their database error and allow Vodafone to place the order.

Vodafone treat an upgrade as a new connection and the PPPoE login WILL change. Mine didn't change for a couple of weeks then changed without notice. I had to phone them for my login
