Vodafone pro 3 ultrahub7 latency woes

[link to this post]

Hi all,

We have been on Vodafone pro 3 FullFibre 910 since June last year and it’s ok when it’s ok.. but the regular latency spikes / lag is killing the boys gaming or any video calls etc.
Constant router restarts and a new router sent out, but no better (both ultrahub7)

We decided today, rather than a reset, we would just try an old cat 5e super long ethernet cable that I found in the odd cables box and run it to the bedroom.
One room pc on wired Ethernet, one room still on WiFi, no router reset and wired is now getting A+ zero bufferbloat latency 11ms at 4/500 down and up,, but it’s the 0+ ms up or down that is the shining star. The WiFi connected one is still lagging all over.

Just fyi: we have tried to do wired testing before, We have a PS5 and an Xbox Series X hard wired in the lounge and have tested before using their in-built browsers for latency / bufferbloat but with not so good results as the PC hard wired above.

Wondering if a third party router will help (as we can’t have long cables draped though the house) or is it just a WiFi / environment thing ?
Would those mains plug network devices work I wonder ?

Maybe we will keep the cable in place to test things for the rest of the day, as I believe (guidance welcome) bufferbloat / latency can be a wired or wireless problem and it may come back even on this Ethernet connection?

Anyone else had the latency issues with Vodafone and ultrahub7 and managed to sort it out ?
We came from fttp TalkTalk 900 and never had these issues.

Thanks for any info help 🙏🏼

vodafone router is terrible when it does not work, I had simillar problems, i tried TP link deco router , it did not work but seems to be working well with TP link archer be3600. You could try with one of the TP link routers , they also sell some routers for gaming, no idea if they are any good. It might solve your problmes if not you can always return the router. I spent ages with agent who tried to fix it. Also use Broadband quality monitor to monitor your broad band.-

Powerline devices need to be connected on the same power circuit to get decent transmission.
We are not using them for latency critical purposes but we have TL PA8033 1300Mbps kits and the TL desktop app reads 600Mbps between powerline devices connected on the same circuit (used to connect a network drive) and 160Mbps between devices on different circuits (used to connect a smart heating controller), which is in any case higher than the 150Mbps contracted speed for our broadband.
