Replacing BT HomeHub phone

[link to this post]

Has anyone managed to replace the BT HH phone with either another phone or better still a 3rd party soft phone (by which I mean not BT's softphone!)? If so could they post the config settings.

I have been trying X-lite - it works with other systems but I've not managed to crack BT!

About a year ago "btcracked" posted "BT SIP Config Setup C460IP DECOM HOMEHUB KIT " in this forum which was really interesting and useful however it hasn't solved my problem for me!

My softphone registers but I cannot make a call - I get Call Failed: Forbidden and can't dial in either. Before it finally registers it somteimes displays error code 480 - Exhausted Redirects.

Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks

the usual problem is that the BT server addresses don't resolve on your DNS server - do you have this problem ie if you try to ping the SIP server do you get a numeric IP ?

Thanks for the input Phil however I have got over that problem and there is now just one remaining.

I have managed to get X-Lite working. However it only worked when I checked the option "Use local IP address" (as opposed to "Discover global address") in the Firewall traversal section of the Topology tab. When I checked the "Discover global address" I got the Forbidden message every time I made a call.

Flushed with that success I am now trying to configure a phone with the same parameters however I don't seem to be able to eliminate the "Forbidden" message whenever I try to make a call, although the phone will register.

Does anyone have any suggestions as what parameter I might need to set to get the phone to operate the same as X-Lite?

Thanks
Clive
