Problems with sipgate and Linksys pap2

[link to this post]

Hi folks,
Hoping that somebody can help me with the following:

I use sipgate and a Linksys PAP2T, I am based in Spain and use telefonica although I have a uk landline number. The linksys is wired to the router (standard telefonica one) with etehernet cable.

Outgoing calls are great, superb quality and reliable. Incoming is the same most of the time. However, regularly (Like evry day) it will stop recieving incoming calls, calling the number gets a message "you have dialled an incorrect number). Unplugging the router from the power and re powering it solves the problem but then after a few hours or a day it comes back.

I've set up port forwarding, bear with me as I'm a beginner. I understand that to forward ports the linksys has to have a static ip address and it appears that to have a static ip DHCP has to be set to disable. I've figured out how to do that, set a static ip address, forwarded the various ports and assigned them that ip address.

However, when I set the linksys DHCP to disabled the phone wont work, no dial tone nothing. The only way I can get a dial tone is if I allow the linksys to set it's own ip (or take one from the router)

Any ideas?

Thanks
Angus

I set it up at home in the uk and it worked but I only tried to get a dial tone, never tried an incoming call so I cant say. I'm convinced it is something to do with this dhcp think

you don't need to port forward generally, is the Linksys set up as per the Sipgate instructions ?

also is there anything set up for STUN service ?

hi,

Yes set up exactly as sipgate suggest, although I now seem to have done more damage by buggering around. I now cant access the admin section of the linksys at all!!!!!!!!!!
