Skype account hacked!!

A word of warning. My Skype account was hacked and my few pounds of credit was used for calls to far off lands. The perpertrators then tried to top up the account with my card details held by Skype.
Fortunately the Verified by Visa password was required which foiled them.

If you have a Skype account delete your card details immediately after any payment!

I have no idea how this happened but the damage was fortunately minimal.

A valuable lesson learned.

Any idea how this was done? What sort of password do you have?

No idea how. PW is a combination of eight letters and numbers but somebody has to start with the username too. I sussequently ran Malwarebytes (in addition to Norton IS) and nothing showed up.

My calls list is probably now a directory for Al Quaeda head office so I have saved it to a file for reference.

As Harry Secombe used to say - fiendish cunning these Orientals....

Had an email from Skype saying that I could not have possibly made those calls and gave me my tenner back! I think however I wil stick with voipcheap for paid call from now on though.

I think you ought to look at your own security instead of suggesting Skype have something to do with it.

BTW, MBAM doesn't remove rootkits.
