Skype Question

Folks I have not used Skype before and was wondering a few things.

I am traveling to Los Angeles with work at the weekend and I have put credit on my Skype (iPhone 4S)

Can I use Skype to make calls outside a wifi area without being billed by Vodafone or the only way Skype will work is in a wifi area and as I have credit I can call landline or mobile

Also I have Sky Go on my iPad and was wondering if there is a way round being able to watch the F1 using this. I have googled a few things and it appears I can do this using a VPN but would rather have somebody elses opinion and recommendation of the best way forward.

Data transfer is metered if you do it over the mobile network, so using Skype via 3G could be very expensive overseas. Not sure you'll even get a fast data connection in the US, but it's a while since I experienced their mobile phone mess of a market.

So restrict yourself to Skype over a wi-fi connection.

I watch F1 on http://www.eplsite.com/ as I don't do Sky.
