BT business voIP v gigaset N300A

Hi guys

Really need some help over here .

Signed up for voIP with BT business and bought gigaset N300A + handset same day. Needed SIP details from BT which took over 48hrs to get ( useless) which at this point looked at the settings asked for by gigaset's "wizard" and look completley different.

I use their own ( gigaset's) wizard to load a profile but surprise surprise BT isn't 1 of the default list so is asking for manual set up.

Any guidance would be greatful , have ilmited info from BT re: SIP so will post if you want anything.

Can you post the list of requirements from the Gigaset and it should be possible to map across:

Hardware: Excellent choice

VoIP provider: You may find the will to live pervades when dealing with BT on their help line notwithstanding it takes forever to get configuration information. There isn't a lot of manual configuration necessary to get the VoIP service up and running but there are subtle configuration differences with each provider. I don't use BTs VoIP services so not qualified enough to help you.

If yiu were either a DrayTEL or Callmaster user I could give you chapter and verse, so if BT drives you up the wall, you are welcome to pm to me for help; not allowed to advertise here.

Glad to hear that it works ... I can now order my N300A IP ! Where did you go for yours? And which handsets did you buy?

I had intercepted the full string that is sent down when setting up the handset from bt.com./businessbbv and split that apart. Checked it with the data from the VOIP help desk and had been thinking it through alongside the not too helpful Gigaset guide.

It was really just an educated guess. Just monitor it for a day or so to make sure it does not drop out and try a couple of reasonable length calls.

I have two VOIP - may become three and a PSTN to run into mine.

configuration is "registered" so all seems to be complete on that side of things.

however , cant dial out constant "busy" line and try to call goes straight to answer phone

any other ideas??

call settings are as follows , number assignment : outgoing IP1 incoming IP1 (for both handsets) fixed line unchecked and gigaset.

stupid question, but, gigaset instructions are to connect a fixed phone line into the base as well as a cat 5 to the modem , seems odd when i only want to call via modem, this an issue??

As it's a "Hybrid DECT IP base station for landline and VoIP calls" the phone line is optional.
