I am considering giving VOIP calling a try but would like a few ideas of what companies I should be looking at.
I will be mainly calling UK mobiles numbers and some UK landline numbers.
localphone.com - seems perfect (<1.8p/minute mobile) but a search does not return many good reviews, quite a few avoid this company at all costs?
sippgate.co.uk - very expensive mobile calls - (12p/minute mobile)?
Looking for reliability, good value with as many features as possible!
Thanks

I've been using localphone for over a year and have never had any problem with them.

I've never been unhappy with voipfone. 1p/min landlines, genuinely can't tell you what they are for mobiles as I don't call them much.
12p/min is fairly standard for mobile calling though - for some reason the prices haven't dropped even though the wholesale rates have

Any comments on providers like cheapvoip.com and discountvoip.com? They seem to offer even cheaper mobile costs / free landline but the old saying too good to be true seems to come to mind? Thanks

I'm using FreeVoipDeal: http://www.freevoipdeal.com/ and I have to say call quality has been excellent (I still use landline for 'incoming' and the outgoing VOIP calls are clearer (using Fritz!Box 7490 router)). It's pre-pay (I 'topped-up' 10 Euros back in October and there's still credit on the account). Nothing fancy but it works and I can't really fault them at all.

I've been using Localphone.com since at least 2008 and have no real complaints.
Apart from a series of dropped calls in around 2010 i haven't experienced any issues with reliability. Call quality may not be up there with the more expensive providers but it's more than good enough for my purposes.
Some of the additional features beyond just SIP calling are handy too, like the ability to assign local-rate numbers to contacts abroad so you can call them from other (verified) phones at localphone rates.
You don't even need SIP hardware/software to benefit: My mother lives in Portugal but has a home phone plan that allows free calls to UK landline numbers. My sister lives in Greece but only has a Greek mobile phone. So i set up a local UK number (@ £0.75/month) that forwards directly to my sister's mobile. My mother can call the UK number for free from her home phone and only get charged £0.049/min by Localphone to call my sister instead of 1/min.

I use Voipfone for incoming and calls to landlines. I route calls to mobiles via discountvoip, they are cheap but I dont think the quality is good enough for landline calls.

I use Sipgate Basic, and I have used Voipfone before. Have been recommended VoiceHost who charge £2 per month for a Geographic number.
At the moment I still have £5.00 credit with Voipfone to use up!

I use these guys for my VoIP - http://www.cloudtelephones.co.uk/ . They have a great knowledge of this stuff and have really helped me out. defiantly recommend, but there are other options I've looked through some of the other responses and they look good to. Hope all's well.

My last post was basically suggesting looking at Vonage, but it was removed due to me quoting a spammer.
But I have used them and would recommend them. The addition of a box to use the service is good, if you sign up for a year you also get a stand alone High end Voip phone too, which is a bargain.
