Siemens Gigaset N300A and Vonage

[link to this post]

Hello
I am on Vonage UK on a Vonage HT801 box. I have also bought a Siemens Gigaset N300A to run my DECT handsets from the Router. The N300A wants an Auto Configuration Code to setup and Vonage will not give me one. Is there any way to setup the N300 without. And can I run the Vonage box and the N300A together.
Help would be appreciated.
Thanks

So you're looking at replacing the Vonage HT801 box with a Gigaset N300A?

If so, most people configure the Gigaset boxes manually rather than via any auto config method but that relies on the VOIP provider in your case Vonage supplying all the necessary configuration details, I have no idea if Vonage do this or hide behind the black box method.

Edit1: if they don't then you could connect the telephone output of the HT801 box into the Fixed line input of the Gigaset box as that should work in the same way as a typical PSTN line.

Edit2: Looking at the HT801 user guide it looks like most of the information you need to configure the Gigaset you would have previously required to configure the HT801 box.

If the OP can't get the VOIP registration details from Vonage or the HT801 he could connect the N300A to the HT801 using an rj11 cable. The cable might need to be a cross over cable so that pins 2 and 5 on one end are connected to 3 and 4 on the other, and vice versa.

Porting the phone number to Voipfone or Sipgate and ceasing the Vonage contract would likely save the OP money.

As you say its definitely worth looking into as a possible option for the OP.

I suspect that Vonage supply the HT801s preconfigured, however this link might help!

I think Vonage sell to customers who don't want to have to configure equipment for themselves. They appear to charge appropriately. Gigaclear suggest that their new customers consider using them.

I could but may not be best sound quality. I am expecting brilliant sound by staying digital.

I am going to move from Vonage soon.
What information do I need from my new supplier to manually setup the Gigaset N300.

If it was me I would be looking for the VOIP provider to supply at least the following

Login Name
Login Password
Registrar Server
Proxy Server
Outbound Proxy Server
SIP Port
Stun Server (optional)

Other members may suggest others setting but these are normally enough.
