I discovered the other day that a recent firmware upgrade for the HT801 ATA box beefs up its password requirements. The rule now is 8-30 characters, at least 1 digit, 1 uppercase and 1 lowercase, and 1 special character. This probably applies to other HT80x models too. The old admin/admin default no longer cuts it.
If your ATA box is automatically updated, like mine is (by Voipfone), then they will have had to push a new password with the new firmware. Only Voipfone didn't tell me, and I only found out when I couldn't log in to the config screens any more.
If you have this problem, it might be worth contacting your supplier before pressing the factory reset pin or trashing the box. Voipfone were very helpful when I got in touch.
