Grandstream HT-812 setup with Sipgate Basic.

[link to this post]

Hi,

I have tried setting it up by using the info in this Sipgate Link;

https://basichelp.sipgate.co.uk/hc/en-gb/articles/20...

However, the above link seems to be generic, it does not seem specific to my device and I cannot get it to work.

If I get this to work properly, I plan to ditch the copper line and just use VOIP and I have decided upon a Sipgate Basic Account and I signed up for one last Monday and I have put £10.00 into the account an it is now linked to my home address for emergency calls but it is presently inoperative and |I have the following two queries..

(1). My first query is regarding the need to keep credit in the account.: can I use the account with zero credit or do I need to keep a credit balance in the account in order to make/receive calls?

(2). My second query is regarding the setup of an the Grandstream HT-812: I want to use my existing home phone setup which is a Panasonic KX-TGJ324EB Quad Handset Cordless Home Phone setup and from what I could tell the Grandstream HT-812 should work with these four phones by plugging the base station into one of the RJ11 Ports on the Grandstream HT-812..

Should this setup work with the Panasonic KX-TGJ324EB base station dealing with calls as it did with a copper line?

For now I am keeping my old copper line as I have decided not to port my old number and I want to make sure that the Voip works well before the copper line is cancelled.

I seem to be having trouble in setting up the Grandstream HT-812 so I have been googling regarding the best set up but up to now it is not working.

When i setup the Sipgate Basic account online I chose a new local number and when I then looked at the The Voicemail and Devices section inside the Sipgate Account it said that there were two numbers associated with the account instead on one with first being something like an 056**** number in the first box so I emailed Sipgate to just keep the local phone number that I had chosen which meant that the first box was blank so I put my new local number in the blank first box.

At present the Sipgate Voice and Devices area shows a VOIP phone that is not registered so I input the ID and password details from the Sipgate VOIP Phone information from within my account into the FXS Ports section of port 1 on the Grandstream HT-812 bur it still shows as not being registered.(The diagram for the VOIP phone has a Red Dot).

I added another device which I called called ATA but that shows no ID or password information and that device is also not registered but the diagram for it has a Green Dot.

At first I had planed to buy a Gigaset N300 as the setup seemed a lot easier but from what I could tell the Gigaset N300 is just a base station and each Panasonic Dect Phone would need to be registered with it and I would lose the features that the Panasonic Phones have if it was not working from the Panasonic Base Station supplied with the KX-TGJ324EB. and would need to but new Siemens Phones with that system which seemed a waste.

Should this Grandstream HT-812 setup work in the way that I hope ?

Is there a standard format for a simple way to setup a Grandstream HT-812 with a Sipgate Basic Account for one residential customer and one residential number ?

I have tried just about everything and I now suspect its failure to work is to do with the fact that it is behind my home router and it wants to be in front of the router. - Really do not know but I have just about had enough trying to get it to work.

I have googled and have found nothing and as a last resort I have contacted Amazon Technical Support but they could not help so I am now planning to give up on the Grandstream HT-812 and return it to Amazon for a refund.

Is SIP ALG disabled in router?

Hello Intram2,

Thank you for your reply which may well have worked.

I put in the Grandstream HT812 a Demilitarized Zon but that did not work and after that I gave up on it.

I don't know if disabling SIP ALG would have worked or not since I cannot now test it now as I gave up and it and boxed up for return to Amazon.

Have you tested using one of the soft-phone clients from a tablet, mobile or PC/laptop from home?

This will indicate if its a firewall/router or account/registration issue with Sipgate.
